Andrea Bocelli

To see Andrea Bocelli perform in person, to hear his voice reverberate throughout an arena is a breathtaking moment. Of his performances, people have said “I’ve never heard a voice like his” and “There are no words. If you are fortunate to experience one of his concerts, relish it.” We saw Bocelli perform at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado over a decade ago. I still remember my heart beating and tears streaming down my face at the end of his performance.

He is the world’s most beloved tenor and on Easter Sunday, Bocelli will perform the “Music For Hope” concert in the empty Duomo Cathedral in Milan, Italy. Accompanied only by the cathedral’s organist, Emanuele Vianelli, the concert will be live streamed so the entire world can share in this magical moment together.

“I believe in the strength of praying together,” Bocelli said. “I believe in the Christian Easter, a universal symbol of rebirth that everyone — whether they are believers or not — truly needs right now. Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded earth’s pulsing heart, this wonderful international forge that is reason for Italian pride. The generous, courageous, proactive Milan and the whole of Italy will be again, and very soon, a winning model, engine of a renaissance that we all hope for. It will be a joy to witness it, in the Duomo, during the Easter celebration which evokes the mystery of birth and rebirth.”

The Duomo Cathedral is the largest church in Italy (larger than St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City), the second largest in Europe and the fourth largest in the world. The exterior of the Cathedral is covered in pink white marble and a roof that finishes with an infinity of pinnacles and towers. A golden copper statue, located at the highest point of the temple, is known as the Madonnina which became the symbol of Milan.
